The Medical Education Department of the state government has banned taking photos and videos of patients in any medical college and hospital in the state. Permission will not be granted unless the patient or his legal guardian gives written consent. An order to this effect was issued by the Medical Education Department on Tuesday. According to the order issued, a reference has been made to setting protocols for media management in medical colleges and hospitals, but it is being linked to the bouncer dispute that took place in the capital's Mekahara Hospital recently.
The said four-page order was issued by the Secretary Medical Education Department on June 13, which was made public on Tuesday. The said order has strictly prohibited the entry of media in patient wards or sensitive areas inside the hospital. Similarly, in case of any incident or accident, the name, identity or medical condition of the patients will not be disclosed, unless required by law. In this order, media entry has been prohibited.
