10 tigers from Madhya Pradesh to be relocated

Ten male and female tigers roaming freely in Madhya Pradesh's tiger reserves will be sent to the forests of Odisha, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. Fifteen days ago, after Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav gave his consent in the State Wildlife Board meeting, the Forest Department has expedited its efforts. Madhya Pradesh's Wildlife PCCF, Shubhranjan Sen, has written a letter to all three states regarding this and asked them to complete preparations for tiger shifting.

Shubhranjan Sen, PCCF Wildlife of the Forest Department, has stated in the letter sent to Odisha, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh that they should complete arrangements for building enclosures for the male and female tigers to be translocated from MP, installing radio collars for tracking and monitoring the tigers, and other provisions, so that when the tigers are shifted, they can get a suitable and safe environment.

Ten tigers from MP will be sent to these states from Kanha Tiger Reserve, Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, and Pench Tiger Reserve. It will be the responsibility of the concerned state's forest department to arrange suitable habitats for them.

These many tigers will go to these states

  • Three tigers will be shifted to Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary in Odisha.
  • This will include one male tiger and two female tigers.
  • Four female tigers will be sent to Rajasthan, including 3 to Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve and one to Mukundra Tiger Reserve.
  • Three tigers are to be sent to Chhattisgarh, including two male tigers and one female tiger.

CM had said, bring wildlife from other states too

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav had said in the State Wildlife Board meeting on September 27 that wildlife available in the state must be given to other states, but also obtain wildlife available there from them to further enrich the forest diversity of the state.

The Chief Minister has asked to make efforts to bring rhinoceros or one-horned rhinoceros from Assam. In this meeting, it was decided to give three pairs of tigers to three states: Odisha, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.

In the 30th meeting of the State Wildlife Board, Chief Minister Yadav had also said that the floral and faunal diversity (botanical and biological diversities) found in Madhya Pradesh should be properly branded. The rich forest areas of the state and the easy availability of wildlife in its forests should be widely publicized.
