The process of running 100 EV buses to be given to the Municipal Corporation under the Pradhan Mantri E-Bus Yojana has accelerated. Ravi Chaudhary, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Administration, came to Raipur last week. He inspected the land marked for the e-bus depot located near Hirapur on the Tatiband Bilaspur Ring Road and described it as suitable for the scheme and directed to expedite the civil work of the bus depot.

Along with this, a detailed survey was also discussed regarding the route and timing of the e-bus running in the capital as well as its reach in educational and commercial areas apart from government offices.

It was told that due to the 100 EV buses to be given to the Municipal Corporation and the population of 10 lakh in the city, the Center has also decided the agency for the route survey. The corporation will pay this agency for the survey. Regarding this route survey, it was told that which is that part of the city with a large population, from where there is the highest movement of citizens at a given time. Since the city has expanded to the densely populated areas as well as the outer areas, a survey has been made mandatory to facilitate bus access there. Officials associated with this scheme in the corporation said that the Center has decided the EV bus supplier as well as the agency in Ahmedabad for its operation. After this, central officials visited here to discuss the guarantee letter to be given by the state government to the operating agency regarding payment.
