101 feet tall Ravana effigy to be burnt in WRS Colony

This Dussehra, a 101-feet tall Ravana will be set ablaze in WRS Colony. The making of the grand effigy has begun after the Bhoomipujan ceremony.

On the occasion of Vijayadashami, the 101 feet tall effigy of Lankeshwar will be the center of attraction among the people at the historic Dussehra ground located in the WRS colony of the capital. Along with Lankapati, 80-80 feet statues of his brother Kumbhakarna and son Meghnath will be seen. The structure of Ravana's head has been prepared under the able guidance of famous sculptor M. Ravi Raja. Bamboo work will start from today. For this, a team of 20 artisans from Kolkata, Kharagpur and Bengal will reach Raipur.

According to Ramana Rao, associated with the event, the team of artisans will start preparing the effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakarna day and night at the venue in Dussehra ground from Monday. In collaboration with National Club Raipur, Dussehra Utsav Samiti has started preparing to make Vijayadashami festival memorable on October 2 at Dussehra ground located in WRS. Three sizes of Lankeshwar's head are being made at the Dussehra ground of WRS. In this, ten heads of three sizes will be made, the biggest face is 25 feet, the second is 20 feet and the third is 15 feet. The height of Ravana's effigy will be 101 feet. The height of Kumbhkaran and Meghnath's effigies is decided to be 85-85 feet.

Effigy construction started after Bhoomi Pujan

In relation to the preparation of Vijayadashram festival at WRS Dussehra ground, Bhoomi Pujan was done on September 5 in the special presence of Raipur North MLA Purandar Mishra and National Club President G. Swami for the preparation of the festival. After this, the work of making molds from clay for Ravana's head is going on. Bamboo work is going to start on Monday. For this, 15 to 20 artisans are coming to Raipur from Kolkata, Kharagpur and Bengal. Who will continuously do the work of making effigies at the venue for Vijayadashram festival under the guidance of Ramanna Rao. There will be special fireworks on Dussehra festival. For this, fireworks artists will be invited from outside, who will be present at the venue to provide an attractive display of colourful fireworks.
