20 Suspects Detained at Dhirendra Shastri's Katha in Bhilai Over Security Concerns

Police detained 20 people, including nine women, posing as devotees at Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri's ongoing Hanumant Katha in Jayanti Stadium, citing lack of identification and suspicious behaviour.

The five-day event, drawing lakhs from across the country, concludes on Monday. Durg police, anticipating thefts like chain-snatching and pickpocketing amid the massive crowds, intensified checks in plain clothes.

On Sunday night, Bhilai Nagar police rounded up 11 suspects from inside and around the venue. None carried valid ID proofs like Aadhaar cards. After unsatisfactory responses during questioning, authorities initiated preventive action and presented them in court.
