The CBI has arrested contractor Sushil Jhajharia, a former officer of the South East Central Railway Construction Department, and others, accused of bribing officials in lakhs of rupees to get a contract in the Railways. In this case, a bail application was filed in the High Court on behalf of contractor Sushil. CBI advocate B Gopa Kumar opposed the grant of bail in view of the gravity of the crime and evidence. Before the court could reject the application, the petitioner's advocate withdrew the application, on which the court rejected the application. On behalf of contractor Sushil Jhajharia, the advocate had demanded interim bail for treatment.
It was said in the application that the applicant is suffering from kidney disease and his health condition is so serious that due to the treatment of kidney disease, many of his organs can stop working and any untoward incident can happen at any time and showing extreme readiness to hear the bail application, in which interim bail was demanded. Considering the arguments presented by the applicant's advocate and the reasons for the readiness shown by him regarding the applicant's illness, the bail application was listed on the same day.
