It has been raining lightly in the capital Raipur since Monday morning. Monsoon is now in full swing in Chhattisgarh. Monsoon activity is expected to increase from today. Most parts of the state may receive light to moderate rain today. There are chances of heavy rain with thunder and lightning at some places.
In the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain occurred at most places in the state. Along with this, heavy rain was recorded at one or two places in Balrampur district. During this time, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at 31 degrees in Pendra Road and the lowest temperature was recorded at 19.7 degrees in Rajnandgaon.
Meteorologist HP Chandra said that a low area is located near the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining West Bengal and Bangladesh coast. Along with this, the cyclonic circulation of upper air is extended up to 7.6 km height, which is likely to gradually move in the west northwest direction towards North Odisha, Gangetic, West Bengal and Jharkhand for the next two days. The monsoon trough is located at mean sea level over Ferozepur, Sonipat, Ayodhya, Gaya, Purulia, the low pressure center located in the North West Bay of Bengal and then southeastwards to the North East Bay of Bengal. At the same time, an east-west trough is extended from the cyclonic circulation located in South Rajasthan to the low pressure center located in the North West Bay of Bengal at a height of 3.1 km to 5.8 km. Apart from this, a cyclonic circulation is spread over South Uttar Pradesh up to a height of 1.5 km.
Due to these weather systems, light to moderate rainfall and drizzle with thunder and lightning is likely at most places in the state today. At the same time, heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is also likely at one or two places. The main area of heavy rainfall can be Central Chhattisgarh.
