Raipur,C.G
During the 2025 Independence Day celebrations in North America, Chhattisgarh showcased its rich culture with a spectacular tableau titled ‘Nacha,’ captivating the audience with its vibrant display.
Just like Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August in India, it was celebrated in North America as a grand India Day Parade 2025. Nacha (North America Chhattisgarh Association) showcased the cultural, industrial and tribal heritage of Chhattisgarh in Seattle, Toronto and California Bay Area, uniting migrant families and sharing the national pride of India.
Seattle Festival – Pride of Industry and Agriculture
Led by Nacha Washington Chapter President Namita Khandelwal, two major prides of Chhattisgarh were presented in the Seattle parade – Bhilai Steel Plant and “Dhaan Ka Katora” (Rice Bowl of India). The rice bowl was the center of attraction in the tableau. Nacha members performed the traditional Karma dance, and dishes like Thedi, Bidiya, Rice Papad, Ersasa, Rajgira Laddu were showcased in the India Pavilion along with Dhokra art, teak carving and Kosa silk.
Namita Khandelwal said during this that it was a proud moment to present every aspect of Chhattisgarh in Seattle – from Bhilai Steel to Rice Bowl, Karma Dance to Dhokra Art and Kosa Silk.
Toronto Festival – Tribal Tradition on the Global Stage
India Day Parade 2025 in Toronto was organized by Panorama India and Indian Consulate, Toronto, led by Nacha Canada Chapter President Pankaj Agarwal.
The “Tribal” theme reflected the unique identity of Chhattisgarh. Men wore dhoti, kurta, gamchha and Gaura Mukut and brought alive the traditions of Bastar by playing drums. Women displayed the decency and cultural pride of Chhattisgarh by wearing lugra and traditional jewellery.
Chhattisgarh, which has more than 30% tribal population, presented its heritage on the international stage under the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”.
Nacha's Global Commitment
This India Day Parade, celebrated on the occasion of India's Independence Day – 15 August 2025, highlighted Nacha's commitment to keep Chhattisgarh's heritage alive globally. Industrial achievements, agricultural strength, tribal tradition and family unity – all together present India's diversity with dignity in North America.
