Ganesh Visarjan in Capital Today, 1800 Soldiers Deployed

Ganesh Visarjan processions will be taken out in the capital today with 1800 soldiers on duty. Strict action will be taken against use of DJs and firecrackers.

Ganesh Visarjan tableaux will be taken out through the traditional route in the capital Raipur tonight. The police administration has divided the security arrangements into six sectors, where about 1800 jawans and officers will be deployed. The use of firecrackers in the immersion tableaux will also be completely banned. At the same time, the crowded route will be monitored with CCTV cameras as well as drones, for which the police department has completed preparations. During the immersion, heavy vehicles will be stopped outside the city limits. The tableaux will pass through Sharda Chowk, Jayastambh Chowk, Kotwali Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Kankalipara and Purani Basti and reach Raipura Mahadev Ghat via Lakhenagar.

Devotees will be able to reach this entire route on foot. Parking places have been fixed for them at different places. After immersion of idols in Mahadev Ghat, the vehicles involved in the tableaux will return via Amleswar or Bhatagaon. The next day i.e. on September 9, the movement of vehicles from Kharun river bridge towards Amleswar will be completely closed. During this time, vehicles coming from Amleswar will be able to pass through Bhatagaon, Kathadih and Datrenga route. At the same time, vehicles going towards GE Road have been given alternative routes to reach Tatibandh.

After 7 pm, the roads coming on the tableau route will be closed by putting barricades. The tableaux will reach Sharda Chowk via Rathore Chowk, Gurunanak Chowk and MG Road. Token system has been implemented here. The tableaux will be allowed to proceed towards Jaistambh Chowk only after taking the token. The tableaux coming from Tatyapara Chowk will also be allowed to enter the route one by one in a systematic manner.

Police officers will be deployed in six sectors: SSP

SSP Dr. Umed Lal Singh said that senior officers of the police department will be deployed in all six sectors. TIs and SIs under them will take responsibility for security. Police teams in plain clothes will also be deployed in the crowd, which will identify suspicious people and take action. Strict action will be taken against those found with banned items or caught in a state of intoxication on the tableau route.
