The UTS (unreserved ticket counter) which has been operating for a long time at the railway station has now been shifted to the Railway Reservation Center building. This new system has come into effect from September 11. After this change, now passengers will be able to get both reserved and unreserved tickets from the same building.
The railway administration says that this step will provide convenience to the passengers, as well as increase transparency and discipline in the ticketing system. In future, to provide more convenience to the passengers, there is a plan to install ATVM machines in the parking as well, so that one does not have to go to the counter to get the ticket.
Saving time and labor
Earlier passengers had to stand in separate queues for reserved and unreserved tickets. Now with all the services being available at one place, both time and labor will be saved. Under the new system, unreserved ticket counters will operate in three shifts-
Morning: 4 counters
Evening: 5 counters
Night: 3 counters
This will reduce the pressure of crowd and passengers will be able to get tickets easily.
ATVM machines installed at gate number two
Four Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) have been installed at gate number two. Passengers can get instant tickets from these without standing in line. At the same time, 'UTS on Mobile' app is also available for smartphone users, through which tickets can be booked on mobile itself. This facility saves time and promotes contactless transactions.
Railways has ensured many ticketing options for passengers, reservation center counters, ATVM machines, mobile ticketing app, passenger ticket facility center, Jansadharan ticket booking center and mobile ticketing facility in case of sudden crowd.
Five lakh passengers take unreserved tickets every month
Thousands of passengers travel at Raipur railway station every day. According to the data, about five lakh passengers book unreserved tickets every month. Due to a large number of people traveling in the general class, the railways have further strengthened the ticketing system.
Work under re-development
Raipur railway station is currently undergoing the process of re-development and upgradation of passenger facilities. The transfer of the ticket counter is considered an important step in this direction. The railway administration says that this change will reduce the traffic pressure in the station premises and the ticketing system will become more streamlined. At the same time, starting facilities at the old unreserved counter is also being considered.
