Thar Catches Fire in Bilaspur; Property Dealer Jumps Out to Save Himself, Traffic Halted for an Hour

In Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, a Thar SUV caught fire while moving at Agrasen Chowk. Both passengers managed to escape safely by jumping out of the vehicle in time. The burning car blocked city traffic for nearly an hour.

The Thar was carrying Abhay Lahre, a property dealer, along with his friend. The fire brigade managed to control the blaze, but the car was completely destroyed. Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the fire.

Abhay and his friend were returning after distributing Diwali sweets. Smoke began emerging from the car’s bonnet near Agrasen Chowk. Two youths on a bike warned the driver, allowing both passengers to jump out just in time.

The incident caused panic as the area was crowded. Locals immediately informed the police and fire brigade. The fire was brought under control after significant effort. Additional Police Superintendent Gopal Kariyare stated that the fire was extinguished in time, preventing a major accident.
