Eleven NCC cadets from AIIMS Raipur, including nine girls, successfully underwent aviation training and took flights in twin-seater microlight aircraft at Jagdalpur airport recently.
MBBS students Cadet Deepika Palla and Cadet Shreya Janhavi were among those who piloted the flights, marking a significant achievement for the medical institute's cadets.
The programme, supervised by the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh NCC Directorate and Raipur Group Headquarters, included simulator sessions, airport tours, and real sorties to build foundational aviation skills.
Nine of the 11 participants were female cadets from MBBS and BSc Nursing courses, highlighting gender inclusion in such initiatives. AIIMS Raipur's Executive Director and CEO, Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd), called it a historic milestone. "These activities instill discipline, leadership, and a spirit of national service," he said during his visit to interact with cadets.
The experience aims to inspire interest in fields like aviation medicine. AIIMS pledged continued collaboration with NCC for holistic student development.
