Raipur,C.G
Doctors at AIIMS Raipur performed a life-saving procedure to remove a pin lodged in the windpipe of a 13-year-old child, ensuring a safe recovery.
A team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) saved the life of a 13-year-old child by removing a pin-like sharp object from the windpipe of the lungs with the help of video bronchoscopy. The child was brought to the Trauma Emergency Unit by his family on June 30 for treatment due to continuous bleeding with cough. Along with this, the child was suffering from continuous fever and chest pain for more than two weeks. When the doctors of the unit took detailed information, it was found that the child was playing with a pin, which he accidentally swallowed while coughing and got stuck in the tubes of the lungs through the windpipe.
After that, the child's physical problems started increasing. This pin was stuck deep in the lungs. The patient was immediately taken under sedation for endoscopic examination of the bronchoconstrictor trachea. During this, a laryngeal airway was installed in view of any difficulty in breathing. With the help of video bronchoscopy, the team accurately found the pin and carefully removed it with special instruments.
