AS Vikashil appointed new Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh

Senior IAS officer Vikashil will be the next Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh. He has been relieved from his duties at the Asian Development Bank for the new assignment.

Vikassheel, a senior IAS officer of the 1994 batch, will be the next Chief Secretary. Vikassheel was posted as Executive Director in the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Manila. In January 2024, he was sent to this post by the Central Government for a period of three years. Vikassheel is returning to Chhattisgarh next week.

Vikasheel joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1994. As soon as he came to the Chhattisgarh cadre, he held many important responsibilities. He was the collector in big districts like Raipur and Bilaspur. Apart from this, he has also taken charge of important departments like Industry, Finance, Health and General Administration in the Chhattisgarh government. While on central deputation, he got experience of working on senior posts in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Jal Shakti. His role as Mission Director in Jal Jeevan Mission was particularly noteworthy.

In March 2025, the Central Government empanelled him for Secretary/Secretary-equivalent grade. This empanelment is considered a major achievement in terms of his seniority and experience in the Chhattisgarh cadre.

Relieved from ADB
The Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) of the Government of India had recently written a letter to ADB requesting to relieve Vikasheel ahead of schedule. After the letter from the Government of India, ADB has relieved him. It is being told that Vikasheel will come to Raipur next week, his wife Nidhi Chhibber is also a 1994 batch IAS officer, she is also returning to Chhattisgarh after being relieved from central deputation.

Amitabh Jain will retire by the end of this month

The tenure of the current Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain is ending on the last date of this month. In June, on the day of his retirement, the Central Government had given him a three-month extension. Amitabh Jain is unlikely to be given an extension now. If his tenure was extended, he would have been given a one-year extension like Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Anurag Jain. It is believed that Amitabh Jain can become the Chief Information Commissioner of the state after retirement.
