Audi Car Occupants Assault Student in Bhilai, Allegedly for ‘Staring at the Car’

An 11th-grade student and his elder brother were allegedly assaulted by two young men travelling in an Audi car in Bhilai, Durg district, after the accused objected to them “staring” at their vehicle. The incident took place on the evening of December 26 near Agrasen Chowk and has led to a police investigation.

According to the complaint filed at Supela police station, the student, a resident of Shankar Nagar, Durg, studies at a private school in Hudco. He told police that he, along with his brother Rudra Pratap Singh Chauhan, aunt Bharti Singh Chauhan and grandmother Kamla Singh Parihar, had gone to Sector-06’s Jayanti Stadium to attend a religious discourse by in Bhilai.

After the event concluded, the family was returning home on separate scooters. Near Agrasen Chowk, the student and his brother stopped near a shop close to Cafino to buy chips, while their aunt and grandmother moved ahead. At around 7.15 pm, an Audi car bearing registration number CG07 AZ 7772 reportedly stopped near them.

The complainant alleged that two youths stepped out of the car and questioned why the brothers were looking at their vehicle. An argument followed, after which the two men allegedly assaulted both siblings. The student sustained an injury near his left eye, while his brother suffered a serious head injury after being hit from behind.

After the assault, the accused fled the spot in their car. The injured informed their family members, following which they approached the police station and lodged a formal complaint.

Supela police have registered a case based on the statement of the victims. Officials said efforts are underway to trace the accused using the vehicle’s registration details. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined, and statements of eyewitnesses are being recorded.

Police said further action will be taken once the suspects are identified and apprehended.
