Bharatmala Project Land Scam: Fresh Claims and Objections Surface Amid Ongoing Investigations

New allegations have emerged in the Bharatmala highway project, with farmers in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand claiming that land was acquired without proper compensation. In Chhattisgarh's Durg district, farmers report that more land was taken than compensated for, leading them to seek redress from authorities. Similarly, in Jharkhand's Ranchi district, farmers allege that despite land acquisition, compensation remains unpaid due to disputes over ownership claims. These developments add to the ongoing scrutiny of the Bharatmala project, which has already faced allegations of inflated compensation and fraudulent land acquisitions.

After the land acquisition compensation scam came to light in the Raipur-Visakhapatnam proposed Economic Corridor under the Bharatmala Project, now fresh claims, objections and complaints have been sought regarding the irregularities in the compensation payment of acquired land in Durg and Rajnandgaon districts.

According to the Commissioner of Durg Division, the information about the list of land acquired under Sub-Divisional Officer Durg and Patan in Durg district has been published on the website of the Office of Collector Durg and the information about the list of land acquired under Sub-Divisional Officer Rajnandgaon in Rajnandgaon district has been published on the website of the Office of Collector Rajnandgaon. If anyone wants to submit any complaint or claim-objection in this regard, then they can submit it to the Divisional Commissioner's Office Durg and the concerned Collector Durg and Rajnandgaon within 15 days.

Land acquisition for Durg-Raipur bypass: Under the Bharatmala Project, land has been acquired in 2 villages of Rajnandgaon tehsil, 12 of Durg, 13 of Patan, 16 of Abhanpur and 8 villages of Arang tehsil for the construction of Durg-Raipur six-lane bypass road. Farmers allege that rules and laws have been widely ignored in the process of land acquisition and compensation determination.
