A violent assault outside a liquor bar in Bhilai has triggered outrage after a disturbing video of the incident surfaced online. The clash, which took place late Sunday night outside Punjab Bar in the Vaishali Nagar area, allegedly involved three to four unidentified youths attacking two brothers with beer bottles and sharp weapons.
The video, now widely circulating on social media, shows one of the victims being repeatedly kicked in the face even after collapsing on the road. In another portion of the footage, a youth is seen running inside the bar in an attempt to escape while the attackers chase him.
Dispute Turned Violent
According to police officials, the incident took place between 11:30 pm and midnight on May 18. Gyanesh Sahu alias Akash had reportedly gone to Punjab Bar with his elder brother Ashish Sahu and another relative, Pappu Sahu, for drinks.
Sources familiar with the matter said the argument began after Ashish stepped outside the bar and got into a dispute with a group of youths. Minutes later, he allegedly ran back inside the premises while the accused followed him and began assaulting him in full public view.
Gyanesh, who tried to intervene and rescue his brother, was also attacked during the scuffle.
Beer Bottle Attack
Police said the accused allegedly used beer bottles and a sharp-edged object during the assault. The victims claimed the attackers also threatened to kill them while hurling abuses.
Initial reports indicate that the violence continued for nearly half an hour, creating panic among customers and passersby in the area. Eyewitnesses and some people present near the bar eventually stepped in to separate the groups.
Broken glass pieces and blood stains were reportedly found outside the bar after the incident.
Victims Suffer Injuries
Gyanesh Sahu sustained injuries on his head, chest, hands, back and left leg. Ashish Sahu also suffered injuries near his neck and back, police said.
Both injured men later approached the police and lodged a complaint. They told investigators they would be able to identify the attackers if brought before them.
The incident has once again raised concerns over late-night violence outside bars and pubs in the industrial township.
CCTV Footage Under Scan
Vaishali Nagar Police Station has registered a case against unidentified accused and started an investigation. Police teams are now examining CCTV footage installed near the bar and surrounding roads to identify those involved.
Officials said the viral video is also being used as evidence in the investigation.
Local authorities confirmed that no arrests had been made till Tuesday evening, though efforts were underway to trace the suspects.

Speaking on the matter, Satyaprakash Tiwari said the two brothers had gone to the bar for drinks when the dispute broke out outside the premises.
He said police have recorded the complaint and are verifying the identities of the accused seen in the footage. Further legal action will follow based on the investigation findings.
