Bilaspur Zone Rail Passengers to Get 3% Discount on General Tickets via Rail-One App

The Railway Board has announced a new scheme allowing passengers in the Bilaspur railway zone to avail a 3% discount on general ticket bookings through the Rail-One mobile application, starting 14 January 2026. The scheme removes the earlier requirement of maintaining a balance in the R-Wallet, enabling passengers to use UPI, debit cards, or net banking to receive the discount.

Why the Change:
Previously, only users of the R-Wallet on the Rail-One app were eligible for a 3% cashback bonus. Many passengers hesitated to book tickets due to the extra step of wallet recharge. The new initiative aims to simplify digital ticketing and encourage wider adoption of the app’s online payment options.

Implementation Details:
The discount will apply for six months on a trial basis, ending on 14 July 2026. During this period, the Center for Railway Information System (CRIS) will collect usage data and passenger feedback to evaluate the scheme’s effectiveness in increasing digital bookings. Based on the findings, the Railway Board will decide whether to extend the facility beyond the trial period.

Railway Board Director, Passenger Marketing, Sanjay Manocha, confirmed the directive, stating that the move is intended to promote digital payments and ease the ticketing process for general passengers.

How the Scheme Works:
Passengers booking a general ticket through the Rail-One app can choose from multiple digital payment options. Upon successful payment via UPI, debit card, or net banking, the 3% discount will be applied to the total fare automatically. Existing R-Wallet users will continue to receive the 3% cashback as per the earlier arrangement, ensuring no change to their benefits.

Future Prospects:
The Railway Board has instructed all zonal offices to widely promote the scheme, highlighting its simplicity and accessibility. Officials anticipate that the expanded eligibility will significantly increase digital ticketing adoption and reduce dependency on wallet-specific bookings.

This initiative reflects the railways’ ongoing effort to integrate digital payments with passenger convenience, streamline the ticketing process, and improve user experience for everyday travelers across India.
