BJYM Leaders Attack Congress Workers in Kawardha; Baij Questions Why Home Minister Is Silent

A clash occurred in Kawardha, Chhattisgarh, between leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and Congress workers. The incident took place when BJYM state president Rahul Tikriha visited Kawardha for the first time after assuming office. Tikriha is already facing prior allegations of sexual harassment.

Protest by Congress Workers:
Congress workers opposed his visit, showing black flags and raising slogans against the BJYM leaders. According to reports, the BJYM leaders became agitated, got out of their vehicles, and began verbally abusing, pushing, and physically assaulting the Congress workers. In a video, one BJYM leader can be seen kicking a Congress worker. Police were present during the incident.

Police Investigation Underway:
Congress accused the BJYM convoy of being armed. The Kotwali police station confirmed that the investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Party Statement:
Chhattisgarh Congress president Deepak Baij stated that the incident occurred in the home district of the state Home Minister, yet no action has been taken so far. He warned that if the government does not act, the party will launch protests across the state and will oppose the Prime Minister’s visit scheduled for 1 November.

Sequence of Events:
According to the Kawardha District Youth Congress, protesters shouted slogans like “Rahul go back” against Rahul Tikriha. When the BJYM convoy arrived, some workers ran forward and used abusive language, leading to a clash. Police intervention helped calm the situation to some extent.
