Burnt Body of Youth Found Behind Hotel in Bilaspur: Police Suspect Murder and Attempt to Destroy Evidence

A partially burnt body of a young man was found behind Hotel Grand Lotus near Khushi Vihar in the Tifra area of Bilaspur on Friday morning. Police suspect that the man was murdered before his body was set on fire with chemicals to destroy evidence and conceal his identity.

The body, which was about 80 percent burnt, has not yet been identified. Based on burnt clothing fragments and skeletal remains, police are questioning nearby residents to trace the victim’s identity.

Chemical Suspected in Burning
According to police, the crime scene falls under the Sirgitti police station limits. Investigators believe that a highly flammable chemical, possibly spirit, was used to burn the body, as it was found almost completely charred.

Body Discovered in Bushes by Locals
Residents of the area spotted the half-burnt body lying in the bushes along a narrow footpath leading to Mannadol and immediately informed the police.

Officers reached the site and questioned locals, but no one could identify the deceased. Due to the extent of burns, there were no visible marks, scars, or features to aid recognition.

No Signs of Struggle at the Scene
The forensic team found no signs of struggle or footprints around the area. Station House Officer (SHO) Kishore Kewat said that the spot is rarely used by villagers, except by a few people who pass through for open defecation.

The deceased is believed to be between 25 and 35 years old, and the body is estimated to be around two days old. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are checking missing person reports from nearby areas.

Few CCTV Cameras, Multiple Escape Routes
Police said there are several exit routes from the scene, but very few CCTV cameras on the adjoining roads, making the investigation challenging. Teams are reviewing footage from possible routes, though no significant leads have emerged so far.

Investigators suspect the use of spirit or similar flammable chemicals in burning the body, though confirmation will depend on forensic test results.
