CAF Jawan Killed in Kondagaon Road Accident; Hit by Truck While Returning from Family Mourning, Brother Watches in Shock

A tragic road accident late Wednesday night claimed the life of a CAF (Chhattisgarh Armed Force) jawan in Kondagaon district. The victim, identified as Shankarlal Nag, was posted as a constable at the Urandabeda police station. He was returning from a family mourning ceremony with his elder brother when a speeding truck rammed into their motorcycle on National Highway-30 near Gulbapara.
The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on November 6. Both brothers were on their way back to Farasgaon from Kohkameta village when the truck, loaded with timber, collided head-on with their bike. The impact threw Shankarlal onto the road, leaving him critically injured. Despite efforts by locals and family members to rush him to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Eyewitnesses described a heart-wrenching scene as the elder brother wept over his sibling’s body lying on the roadside.
Police from the Farasgaon station reached the spot soon after being alerted and sent the body for post-mortem. The truck driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Police have launched a search to trace him and are examining CCTV footage and vehicle registration details.
The news of Shankarlal’s death has cast a shadow of grief over his family and colleagues at the Urandabeda police station. His co-workers remembered him as a dedicated and disciplined officer known for his calm nature and commitment to duty.
Local residents, angered by the growing number of accidents on NH-30,have demanded stricter checks on heavy vehicle movement at night and the installation of speed breakers to prevent further tragedies.
