CG: Chief Minister to Inspect Preparations for State Festival Today, Cooperative Society Employees to Protest, Chakka Jam Movement from Tomorrow

Several key events are set to take place in Chhattisgarh today. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will review the preparations for the 2025 State Festival at Nawa Raipur, while employees of cooperative societies across the state will protest over their four-point demands at district headquarters. Additionally, the Railways have announced special trains on the Patna route for Chhath Puja, and the Driver Federation has issued a warning for a Chakka Jam movement starting tomorrow.

Chief Minister to Inspect Preparations for State Festival

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will depart from the Chief Minister's residence in Raipur at 11 AM today and head to the State Festival venue in Nawa Raipur. There, he will assess preparations for the stage setup, seating arrangements, security, traffic management, and cultural events. After completing the inspection by 1 PM, he will be engaged in official work at the Mahanadi Bhavan in the Secretariat for the rest of the day.

Congress Targets Law and Order Situation

Congress State President Deepak Baij criticized the law and order situation, stating that over 45 stabbing incidents and a dozen murders have taken place during the festival season, exposing flaws in the law enforcement system. He accused the police of failing to control criminals, while the government remains silent on the issue.

Special Trains for Chhath Puja

In light of Chhath Puja, the Railways have introduced special trains for the convenience of travelers, running between Durg–Patna and Gondia–Patna.

  • Durg–Patna: 517 seats available

  • Gondia–Patna: 538 seats available

The Railways have appealed to passengers to make use of these special trains.

Cooperative Society Employees to Protest Today

Around 15,000 employees from 2,058 cooperative societies in the state will hold rallies at district headquarters today, demanding the following four key points:
1️⃣ Remaining payments for the 2023–24 and 2024–25 paddy procurement should be made to the societies.
2️⃣ Outsourcing should be abolished, and operators should be regularized.
3️⃣ Each society should receive ₹3 lakh in managerial grants.
4️⃣ Contract employees should receive bonus points in regular recruitment.

The protesting employees have warned that if their demands are not met, they will boycott paddy procurement and initiate an indefinite movement.

Driver Federation to Start Chakka Jam Tomorrow

The Chhattisgarh Driver Federation has announced a steering boycott movement from October 25, demanding 11 points, including:

  • A Driver Safety Law

  • Alcohol ban

  • A Driver Welfare Board

  • Compensation for accidents (₹10 lakh for death, ₹5 lakh for disability)

  • Health cards with treatment coverage up to ₹10 lakh

  • Pension after the age of 55

  • Reservation in education and employment for the children of drivers.
