Chhattisgarh may soon have a full-time Director General of Police (police force chief). Even after the approval of the panel of three officers in the meeting of the UPSC selection committee held a month ago, the state government has not yet issued a formal appointment order. According to highly placed sources, the related file has come to the Chief Minister's Secretariat from UPSC. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai will now approve one of the names included in the panel and then a formal order for the appointment of full-time DGP will be issued. If sources are to be believed, the order for the appointment of full-time DGP can also be issued along with the new Chief Secretary at the end of June.
It has been told that the names of 1992 batch IPS Arun Dev Gautam, 1992 batch Pawan Dev and 1994 batch GP Singh are included in the race to become full-time DGP. At present, Arundev Gautam is handling the responsibility of in-charge DGP since February 4. After the appointment of full-time DGP, there will be a change in the police department. In the possible reshuffle, senior officers of the police headquarters, Inspector Generals of Police of some ranges and Superintendents of Police of districts will also be affected.
