The Chhattisgarh High Court heard the case of the death of a prisoner in jail on murder charges. Seeing the marks of several serious injuries found on the prisoner's body, the family has filed a petition stating that it is a case of custodial murder. Hearing the case, the High Court has sought a reply from the government within two weeks.
In fact, Neeraj Bhoi, a resident of Pipraud village, was arrested by Mahasamund Police on August 12 and sent to the district jail. Jail doctor Dr. Sanjay Dave found him to be a patient of depression and chronic alcoholic in the medical examination. Due to being addicted to drugs, the prisoner started behaving abnormally the next day. After this, medicines were given in the jail hospital, but there was no significant benefit. On August 15, he was taken to the government hospital in the morning, where he was declared dead.
The prisoner's family had complained alleging custodial murder. After this, the post-mortem report that came on August 17, 2024 revealed that the young man died due to strangulation. There were a total of 35 fresh and serious injury marks on his body, out of which 8 were internal, which proved to be fatal. After the complaint, a magisterial inquiry was conducted, which was completed on January 31.
