CG Weather Update: Rainfall in many areas of Chhattisgarh since morning, temperature drops

Several regions of Chhattisgarh experienced rainfall since morning, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures. The showers have provided much-needed relief from the heat, with cooler weather prevailing across the state.

The southwest monsoon is expected to reach Kerala in the next two days. Also, the conditions for its further progress remain favorable. Chhattisgarh is receiving a large amount of moisture from the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in many areas of the state for the next one week. There is no possibility of any significant change in the maximum temperature for the next 5 days.

During the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall was recorded at one or two places in the state and light to moderate rainfall at some places. Meteorologist HP Chandra said that the southwest monsoon is likely to reach Kerala in the next two days, which is expected to accelerate rainfall activities in different parts of the country. Currently, a low pressure area is located in the east-central Arabian Sea, off the north Karnataka and Goa coast, which may intensify further and develop into a depression within the next 24 hours. A trough from this area extends up to South Chhattisgarh at a height of 3.1 to 5.8 km. Apart from this, an east-west trough extends from central Pakistan to north-east Madhya Pradesh via Haryana and Uttar Pradesh at a height of about 0.9 km. Due to the influence of these systems, abundant moisture is arriving in the state from the Bay of Bengal at the lower level.
