Rainfall to Decrease, Strong Winds and Lightning Likely in Some Areas Today

Rain activity is expected to reduce across Chhattisgarh, but certain areas may still experience strong winds and lightning today. Residents are advised to stay alert.
The southwest monsoon reached Raipur from Surguja a day ago, but till now it has not been able to become active in the central part of the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in many areas of the state today. Heavy rain is expected mainly in the districts of Surguja division. Raipur remained cloudy on Friday, but there was no heavy rain.
Meteorologist HP Chandra said that at present a low pressure area is present in South Bihar and its surroundings as well as cyclonic circulation of upper air. It is likely to gradually weaken as it moves in the northwest direction. An east-west trough is extended from northwest Rajasthan to Meghalaya.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain or drizzle with thunderstorms at some places in the state. There is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places in the state.
The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of strong winds and lightning in some districts for the next three hours. There is a possibility of thunder, lightning and sudden strong wind (30-40 KMPH) in Korba, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Mungeli, Surguja, Surajpur, Korea, Balrampur. Yellow alert has been issued in these areas.
According to the data, apart from 160 mm in Kunkari, 150 mm in Kusmi, 120 in Samari, 100 in Bagicha, 90 in Manora and Jashpur, 80 in Sanna, 70 in Mukdega, Kansabel, 60 in Duldula, Lalunga, 50 mm in Kapu, Chirmiri, Tapkar and Baikunthpur. After Sunday, the effect of rain in the state is likely to decrease.
