Chaos at State’s Only Mental Hospital, HC Expresses Displeasure.

The High Court expressed serious concern over the disorder at the state’s only mental hospital and directed the Health Secretary to submit a detailed report immediately.

The High Court has expressed its displeasure over the mismanagement in the only mental hospital in Sendri, Chhattisgarh. The High Court will hear the matter on Tuesday. The investigation report of Court Commissioner Rahul Rishi and Himanshu Pandey mentions that doctors come late and leave before time. Lack of staff, poor hygiene and inadequate facilities have also been mentioned. Now the court has ordered to inspect and submit a full report by the next hearing.
The High Court has expressed its displeasure while hearing the matter. It is said that despite monitoring, the arrangements have not improved, which is not right.

Lack of ultrasound and necessary testing facilities
The government informed the court that Court Commissioner Advocate Himanshu Pandey and Advocate Rishi Rahul Soni had visited the hospital along with the Health Secretary. During the inspection, it was found that the Mental Hospital lacks ultrasound and necessary testing facilities. This is directly affecting the patients, as well as their family members and staff. It was also told that the doctors and staff remain in the hospital for only one to one and a half hours daily, whereas they should be present from 8 am to 2 pm.
