Andhra Pradesh Border: Bus Falls Into Gorge, 9 Dead; Bodies and Luggage Scattered on Road, Over 40 Onboard

A major road accident occurred in the Maredumilli Valley on the Chhattisgarh–Andhra Pradesh border when a passenger bus carrying around 40 people overturned and fell into a gorge. Nine passengers died on the spot, while several others sustained injuries.

The injured have been admitted to Bhadrachalam Hospital for treatment. Officials fear that the death toll may rise. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Maredumilli Police Station.

Scenes of Devastation at the Accident Site

Videos and images from the spot show the bus lying overturned deep inside thick bushes along the valley slope. Several passengers were hurled out, and bodies along with scattered luggage were seen on the roadside.

Local residents immediately rushed to help and assisted in pulling trapped passengers out of the bus. They helped shift the injured to Bhadrachalam Hospital.

Bus Was Travelling From Araku to Rayalaseema

According to initial information, the bus was traveling from Araku to Rayalaseema (Chinturu) on the morning of December 12. As it was passing through the valley stretch, the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to crash down the slope.

Rescue teams, along with ASR District Collector Dinesh Kumar, confirmed that the accident occurred on the Chinturu–Bhadrachalam ghat road. Nine bodies have been recovered, and efforts are ongoing to ensure no passenger remains trapped.
