Chhattisgarh Approves 210-Post Setup for State Capital Region; CM to Head Board, Four Ministers to Join

The Chhattisgarh Cabinet has approved the 210-post organizational setup for the State Capital Region (SCR). The decision, finalized in the Cabinet meeting on December 31, is being seen as a major step toward the planned and holistic development of the capital area.

Following the approval, the formation of the SCR Board is now set to move forward. The proposed board will be chaired by the Chief Minister, with four state ministers likely to serve as members. Additionally, ministers overseeing Urban Administration, Public Works (PWD), and Environment, along with senior government secretaries and local representatives, may also be included. The board’s primary goal is to accelerate the balanced and comprehensive development of the capital region.

According to officials, the Finance Department had already approved the SCR setup about a month and a half ago. The 210 posts range from Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to fourth-grade staff. After departmental clearance, the proposal was presented to the Cabinet, which granted its final approval.

With the Cabinet’s nod, SCR operations are expected to gain momentum. The formation of the board will allow faster implementation of policy decisions and development plans. Several preparatory steps, including consultations with the Law Department, administrative framework planning, and human resource arrangements, have already been completed.

The SCR Board, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, will make key decisions on urban expansion, infrastructure development, environmental protection, and traffic management in the capital and surrounding areas. The board aims to transform the capital region into a modern, organized, and sustainably developed urban center.
