The Chhattisgarh government plans to procure 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy this season, as decided in the recent sub-cabinet committee meeting. Several key decisions were made to streamline procurement and benefit farmers.

The Chhattisgarh government can set a target of buying 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy for the upcoming paddy procurement season. Regarding this, an important meeting of the sub-cabinet committee was held on Friday at Nava Raipur, Mahanadi Bhawan Ministry, in which decisions were taken regarding paddy procurement, lifting and payment to traders.

Regarding the meeting of the sub-cabinet committee, Minister Tankaram Verma said that a decision has been taken regarding paddy procurement, lifting of paddy and payment to traders. A proposal was received from the traders who lift paddy. At present, out of the 33 lakh metric tonnes of paddy that is left, the old payment of the traders is pending, as per their proposal, paddy will be given to them in lieu of the outstanding amount. In this way, the entire paddy will be lifted. Also, the traders will lift the same amount of paddy.

He told that every year the area of ​​cultivation is increasing in Chhattisgarh. The number of farmers is continuously increasing. The production of paddy is also increasing. Chhattisgarh is the state that gives the highest price to farmers for their produce across the country. 21 quintals of paddy is purchased per acre.

Apart from Revenue Minister Tankaram Verma, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal and Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel were also present in this meeting.
