Chhattisgarh Minor Raped, 8 Months Pregnant; Accused Arrested in Keshkal

A shocking case of the repeated rape of a minor has come to light in the Farsagaan police station area of Keshkal, leaving the community in a state of outrage. The victim, who is now eight months pregnant, was allegedly assaulted for months by an accused who threatened to kill her if she spoke out.

The horrifying ordeal came to light only when the minor's health began to deteriorate. Her family took her to a hospital for treatment, where medical examinations revealed the advanced pregnancy. Stunned by the discovery, the family questioned the girl, who then disclosed the continuous sexual assault she had endured.

According to the victim's statement, the accused, identified as Dewanath Netam, a local youth, had threatened her with murder, using fear and mental pressure to force her into silence. For months, she suffered in isolation, unable to report the crimes due to the death threats.

Upon learning the truth, the family immediately filed a formal complaint at the Farsagaan police station. The police acted swiftly, arresting the accused, Dewanath Netam.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for rape and criminal intimidation, along with the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused has been sent to judicial remand as the investigation continues.

Police officials have confirmed that the minor's medical examination has been conducted and her statement has been recorded before a magistrate. A special team of women police officers is overseeing the case to ensure the victim receives all necessary support and justice. The incident has sparked widespread anger in the region, with local communities and social organizations demanding the strictest punishment for the accused.
