Chhattisgarh has attracted the attention of the whole country with its unique performance in Mallakhamb in the first Khelo India Beach Games held from 19 May to 21 May 2025 at Ghoghla Beach in the Union Territory of Diu. On the second day of the competition, the women's Mallakhamb team of Chhattisgarh won the gold medal by scoring 80.60 points. A day earlier, the men's team of Chhattisgarh had won the gold medal in the team championship with 124.55 points.
Chhattisgarh remained as the "Emperor of Mallakhamb"
President of Chhattisgarh Mallakhamb Association, Premchand Shukla said that the women and men's Mallakhamb teams of Chhattisgarh are now emerging as the "Emperor of Mallakhamb" at the national level. If Mallakhamb is included in the Olympic Games in future, then the players of Chhattisgarh have the potential to become world champions.
18 medals in Chhattisgarh's bag so far
So far, Chhattisgarh has won 12 gold and 6 silver medals, a total of 18 medals in Khelo India Beach Games 2025. This success is the result of the tireless efforts of the officials and coaches of the Chhattisgarh Mallakhamb Association. However, the Mallakhamb players in the state still face a lack of necessary resources and financial support. The need for indoor and outdoor stadiums in all the districts has been felt for a long time.
