Chhattisgarh to Release Draft Voter List Today Under Special Intensive Revision: Millions Could Lose Names

The Chhattisgarh State Election Commission will publish the draft voter list today as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, raising concerns that names of several lakh voters could be deleted.

The deletions mainly target absent voters, permanently shifted individuals, and deceased persons. Additionally, names of electors who were not included in the previous SIR or failed to submit documents to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be listed separately for verification.

The draft list will be available on the Chief Electoral Officer’s website: https://ceochhattisgarh.nic.in/. Voters can search using their EPIC (voter ID) number, district, assembly constituency, ward/village, or polling booth number. The full list can also be downloaded.

The claims and objections window will remain open from December 23, 2025, to January 22, 2026. The final voter list is scheduled for publication on February 21, 2026.

How to check your name

Visit ceochhattisgarh.nic.in or voters.eci.gov.in, or use the NVSP portal or ECINET mobile app. You can search by EPIC number or by selecting district, assembly segment, part number, and booth details. BLOs and political party booth-level agents will also have copies of the draft list for offline verification.

What if your name is missing?

First, double-check that you entered your name, father’s name, and date of birth correctly. If the name still doesn’t appear, it may have been marked as absent, permanently shifted, or deceased. Contact your local BLO immediately for clarification.

To get your name included, approach your BLO with identity documents and file a claim using Form-6 along with a declaration form. You can submit objections or claims up to January 15, 2026, at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office. Required documents include voter ID, Aadhaar, or any other Election Commission-approved proof of identity and address.

Why SIR matters

Inclusion in the SIR draft ensures your name remains on future rolls with minimal verification. If your name is excluded now and you do not act during the claims period, it will be permanently deleted from the final list, making you ineligible to vote until re-enrolment. Once deleted, your voter card becomes invalid.

Even after the final list is published, voters can apply to add their names through BLOs or online using Form-6 at any time. Young citizens turning 18 on or before April 1, July 1, or October 1, 2026, can also submit advance applications.

Long-term impact

Voters whose names are retained in this SIR will face less scrutiny in future revisions. Those excluded may need to produce extra documents repeatedly, and their children could face similar verification hurdles in the next SIR.

The Election Commission has assured that no name will be deleted without notice and an opportunity for hearing. Draft and final lists, along with claims and objections, will be shared with political parties and uploaded online. Appeals against Electoral Registration Officer decisions can be filed with the District Magistrate and then the Chief Electoral Officer.

Voters are urged to check their status today and take prompt action if their name is missing or marked for deletion.
