Chhattisgarh's Star Leads India to U-19 Kabaddi World Title
A talented young kabaddi player from Chhattisgarh has played a pivotal role in leading India to victory at the 2025 Under-19 Kabaddi World Cup.
India has won the Under 19 of South Asia Kabaddi Championship 2025 today. Recently, the Indian Kabaddi team made India the world champion by defeating the Nepal team by 7 points in Nepal itself. This is a matter of pride for the whole country as well as Chhattisgarh, because the promising captain Somesh Sahu leading the Indian team is from Chhattisgarh, who has played an important role in waving the flag of India at the world level. After returning home, Somesh has talked to the Lalluram.com team about his success.
Let us tell you, Somesh Sahu is a resident of village Marda in Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh. He is a boy from a simple farmer family and is a class 11th student in Swami Atmanand Vidyalaya Lavan. Somesh told Lalluram.com about his journey of Kabaddi that he used to play Kabaddi since childhood. After this, when Chhattisgarh included Kabaddi in the Olympic Games, he got a chance to play for the state. After a good performance at the state level, he was selected at the national level, where he got to represent the country's team.
Somesh Sahu participated in the South Asia Kabaddi Championship 2025 held in Nepal, in which his team won the championship by winning the final.
Somesh told that till now he has not received any government assistance in his journey with Kabaddi. Family and District Panchayat Vice President Pawan Sahu sent him forward by giving financial help. He said that if a Kabaddi Academy opens in the district, then surely the players here can make a name in the world.
Let us tell you that Baloda Bazar has played a leading role in the game of Kabaddi since the beginning and the players here have represented at the national level. And every year a state level competition is also organized here. But the lack of good coaches and academies here hurts the players here.
The mother of young player Somesh Sahu said that his father used to scold him at home but I used to see his dedication, so I used to send him to play. Today it feels very good that my son has returned with the title of World Championship. Now the whole family is happy.
