According to police, the boy had limited experience riding a motorcycle but still left home on a bike late at night. Residents spotted the bike and the body near Maharajpur Chowk early Monday and alerted the police. A case of unnatural death has been registered and an investigation is underway.

Dhamdha police station in-charge Yuvraj Sahu said Tameshwar had told his family he was going to Durg with his uncle. However, they stayed back in Dhamdha at the house of the uncle’s brother-in-law. Police said Tameshwar was in the process of learning to ride and had reportedly fallen once earlier in the night. After his uncle went to sleep, the boy allegedly took the motorcycle again around 10 pm, despite being advised not to go out.

Family members at the house had tried to stop him, but he insisted he would ride slowly and return soon. He did not come back that night.

Preliminary findings suggest the bike may have gone out of control and struck a small tree on the roadside. The motorcycle showed minor damage and scratch marks, while injury marks were found on the boy’s face. Police believe the teenager may have died due to severe injuries sustained in the fall and remained unattended on the roadside throughout the night.

Based on suspicion, police initially detained the uncle for questioning. The boy’s father later reached the police station and requested his brother’s release, stating he was not responsible for the incident. After questioning, police released the uncle.

Police have maintained that the death appears to be the result of a road accident, though officials said all angles are being examined. The post-mortem report is awaited. The family has since performed the last rites.
