CM Sai Holds Key Meeting: Illegal Pakistanis, Bangladeshis to Be Deported, Says Vijay Sharma

In a major meeting with Home Department officials, Chief Minister Sai and Vijay Sharma announced that Pakistanis and Bangladeshis living illegally in the state will be identified and deported.

An important meeting of Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma is going to be held today with Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. Regarding this meeting of the Home Department being held on the instructions of the Chief Minister, Home Minister Vijay Sharma said that there will be a discussion regarding illegal Pakistanis and Bangladeshis living there. Pakistanis and Bangladeshis living illegally in Chhattisgarh will be thrown out.

Home Minister Vijay Sharma said in a discussion with Lalluram.com that many people from Pakistan and Bangladesh are living in a suspicious manner. They will be identified and deported. Some suspects have also been caught. Along with discussing about the people who came from Pakistan on visitor visa, long term and medical visa, what to do next will be decided with the guidance of the central government.

It is worth noting that after the Pahalgam terrorist attack on 22 April, the Indian government took a big diplomatic action against Pakistan and cancelled the visas of Pakistani citizens living in India. Along with this, they have been ordered to leave the country as soon as possible. The Indian government has made it clear that the visa of Pakistani citizens will now be valid only till 27 April, while medical visa holders have been given time till 29 April.

On the orders of the Indian government, now the investigation of Pakistani citizens has started in Chhattisgarh as well. According to sources, there are about 2000 Pakistani citizens in Chhattisgarh, out of which about 1800 live in Raipur alone. Most of them are from the Sindhi community. Visas and other documents are being thoroughly investigated by the police.

Home Minister Amit Shah gave instructions

According to several media reports, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to the Chief Ministers of all the states over the phone and asked them to ensure that no Pakistani citizen stays in India beyond the stipulated time limit.

Relief to long term visa holders
The central government has clarified that long term visas issued to Hindu Pakistani citizens will not be cancelled and they will not be required to leave the country. However, people who came on business, medical or religious visas will be required to leave India within the stipulated time limit. SAARC visa holders do not need immediate evacuation at the moment, but their investigation is also going on.

It is worth noting that people of Sindhi community of Pakistani origin reside in large numbers in Raipur. These people usually come to India to meet their relatives, get treatment or for religious purposes. Many people have also settled here under business and medical visas. They have built their homes in areas like Saddu, Mahavirnagar, Boriyakla and Mana Road. Some of them have got Indian citizenship, while many are still in the process.
