CM Sai's Vision for Urban Good Governance at Nagar Suraj Sangam
Concluding the 'Nagar Suraj Sangam,' Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai urged newly elected urban body representatives to prioritize commitment and accountability for fostering good governance in cities.
Chief Minister Sai, while addressing the newly elected public representatives and field officers of the Urban Administration Department, said that the great responsibility of making the cities beautiful, clean and comfortable is on your shoulders. In this workshop, you people have got information about your rights and duties as well as the functioning, schemes and acts of the department.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw himself has given guidance for two hours. This workshop would have increased your knowledge on various aspects related to urban administration and development and it will help you in carrying out your work more efficiently. CM Say expressed hope that after returning from this Nagar Suraj Sangam, our public representatives will work actively to bring good governance in their respective cities.
Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Saw, while addressing the closing session of the workshop, said that many public representatives have been elected for the first time in the recently concluded urban body elections. This two-day awareness program-cum-workshop has been organized by the department for them. He informed that on the first day of the workshop, a total of 228 representatives from all the municipal corporations of the state participated, including mayors, chairpersons, MIC members, commissioners and senior engineers.
On the second day today, 477 representatives of Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats across the state were given training, which included the Presidents of Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats, Chief Municipal Officer and Engineers. In this way, the roadmap for the development of cities has been shared with a total of 705 public representatives and officials. Along with dialogue on the action plan for the next five years, measures ranging from basic facilities to good management of resources have been discussed.
Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Dr. Basavaraju S. said in his welcome address in the closing session of the workshop that there has been a detailed discussion with the public representatives of urban bodies for two days on the development of cities and providing good facilities to the citizens. Orientation of the newly elected public representatives has been done through the workshop. The newly elected public representatives have developed a better understanding in the minds of the newly elected public representatives about the functioning, schemes and administrative processes of the bodies through enlightenment in various sessions. Director of Urban Administration Department R. Officials from the Urban Administration Department and SUDA, including Ekka and State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) CEO Shashank Pandey, were also present at the workshop.
