Complaint to PMO Over Substandard Lenses in Chhattisgarh Cataract Surgerie
Raipur,C.G
Allegations surface that substandard lenses are being used in cataract operations in Chhattisgarh; complaint filed with the PMO.
Under the cashless health scheme implemented for the employees and pensioners of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, additional money is being demanded for the quality of lenses during the treatment of cataract in eye hospitals. If the money is not paid, poor quality lenses are being installed. The Engineering Public Welfare Association has complained about this to the Prime Minister's Office.
And the association says that according to the notification issued by the central government, the price of every lens and its profit is already fixed. Despite this, this rule is not being followed in the hospitals. The intraocular lens used after cataract operation by the hospitals is not being included in the DPC schedule and its ceiling price is also not being fixed. The hospital people are looting the patients in an organized manner. The lens worth Rs 750 is being sold for up to Rs 15 thousand.
About 150 cataract operations have been done across the state from 1 April 2025 to 30 August 2025. According to the association president PK Khare, this scheme is popular among doctors. Because the full payment is made within 10 days from the date of submission of the bill.
