Copper Wire Theft Gang Arrested in Bhilai: 5 Accused, Including Minor, Held with 52 kg Stolen Wire

Bhilai police in Durg district have busted a organized gang involved in copper wire theft, recovering a total of 52 kilograms of stolen copper. The gang includes a minor who is currently under police custody.
On November 15, 2025, Harsh Industries in Aklordiha reported to the police that copper wire had gone missing from their warehouse. During the investigation, CCTV footage revealed unidentified individuals stealing copper wire from the warehouse between November 9 and 14. Based on this evidence, a case was registered at the Old Bhilai Police Station.
Police Arrest All Suspects After Encirclement
Following the registration of the case, the police intensified their search. Acting on a tip-off, officers conducted a raid and arrested five suspects. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the theft, leading the police to recover all 52 kilograms of the stolen copper wire.
Details of the Accused
The arrested include D. Venkatesh (24) of Zone 1, Sector-11, Chhawni; D. Vivek (23) of Subhash Nagar, Nandani Road, Chhawni; K. Shanta Rao (25) of near Dena Bank, Chhawni; Ravi Vishwakarma (21) of Gautam Nagar, Khursipar; and one minor.
The police have registered the case under relevant theft and property crime sections, and further investigation is ongoing to ascertain if the gang is linked to other thefts in the region.
