Corruption Scandal in PM Awas: Officials Suspended, FIR Filed
Raipur. Asking for money from the beneficiaries of the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana of the Central Government to provide a roof over the head of the poor family proved costly for the Rojgar Sahayak and Awas Mitra. The Chief Executive Officer in charge of Navagarh District Panchayat has suspended two Rojgar Sahayak along with one Awas Mitra and lodged an FIR at the police station.
In fact, the phone conversation between Rojgar Sahayak Narayan Sahu posted in Gram Panchayat Tendua and Awas Mitra Neera Sahu posted in Gram Panchayat Airamshahi regarding the demand of money in lieu of releasing the installment of Pradhan Mantri Awas went viral. On this, on the instructions of Bemetara Collector and Chief Executive Officer of Bemetara District Panchayat, immediately in charge Tehsildar Sumit Dewangan reached the village and started investigation.
Awas Mitra Neera Sahu accepted that the voice in the viral audio was hers. At the same time, the brother-in-law of the female beneficiary also accepted the demand for money transaction. On the other hand, Rojgar Sahayak Narayan Sahu denied demanding money, but the beneficiaries told that he was threatened and intimidated and asked to take Rs. 10,000 each for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
On confirmation of the viral video, a case was registered against Awas Mitra and Rojgar Sahayak under Section 173 of the Indian Civil Defence Code at Maro Police Station on the complaint of the Chief Executive Officer in charge. Earlier, the CEO in charge took action to suspend Awas Mitra Neera Sahu, Rojgar Sahayak Narayan Sahu and Rojgar Sahayak Ishwari Sahu.
