Dam Water Levels Rise by 10% in Just Four Days of Rainfall
Raipur,C.G
Continuous rainfall over the past four days has led to a 10% increase in water levels across major dams, bringing relief and boosting irrigation prospects.
Due to heavy rains in the last four days in the state, many big, medium and small reservoirs have filled more than half. Two big dams have reached 100 percent level. At the same time, storage has reached 100 percent in seven medium and small dams. More than a dozen other dams are also just behind reaching 100 percent. The average storage has increased by ten percent in the rains in the last four days of last week.
On the other hand, due to the increase in the level of filling in Ravishankar reservoir, storage in linking dams is seen to be less. With the increase in water level in many dams, efforts are also being made to release water. If we look at the average water filling in the last twenty days of rain in the state, there has been an increase of about 30 percent in the dams. Experts of the Water Resources Department are considering it a good situation. During the period of 27 July last year, water storage in the dams was not in a good condition. Here, Kharang reservoir of Bilaspur and Maniyari reservoir of Mungeli district are at 100 percent level. The Kharang reservoir in Bilaspur of the state is 100 percent full. At the same time, the Maniyari reservoir of Mungeli district is also on the verge of reaching 100%. However, the Ravishankar reservoir in Dhamtari district has been filled only half of its capacity. The average water filling here has reached 54%. Now there is a situation of releasing water from here. Good rainfall has also been recorded this year in the catchment area of Gangrel reservoir.
