Daughter-in-Law Gets Life Imprisonment for Killing Mother-in-Law After 5-Year Trial

The court has sentenced the daughter-in-law who killed her mother-in-law to life imprisonment after five years in Khairagarh,This incident took place in July 2020. The police had registered a case and presented the challan in the court. After the trial which lasted for about 5 years, now the court has convicted the daughter-in-law and sentenced her to life imprisonment. Along with this, a fine of Rs 1000 has also been imposed. This case is of Bhimpuri village of Khairagarh police station area.

There was a dispute over cooking
Police investigation revealed that on the night of July 16, 2020, there was an altercation between Rupa and her mother-in-law Binda over cooking food in the house. The argument escalated so much that in anger, Rupa picked up an iron blowpipe kept nearby and hit her mother-in-law on the head several times. Binda suffered serious injuries and died on the spot.

Khairagarh police station registered a murder case in this matter and arrested the accused daughter-in-law Rupa Sahu. During interrogation, she confessed her crime. The police seized the blowpipe from the scene of the incident and presented the challan with evidence in the court. The case was heard in the Additional Sessions Court Khairagarh. During the hearing that lasted for 5 years in the court, on the basis of the statements of witnesses and evidence, the court held Rupa Sahu guilty. Now the court, while giving the verdict, has sentenced her to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1000.
