Health checks were also conducted for drivers and conductors, with vision assessments revealing that 26 drivers had eyesight-related concerns. These drivers were advised to wear corrective lenses or update their prescriptions to ensure safe driving.

The inspection covered both documentation and vehicle condition. Transport officials verified registration certificates, permits, fitness certificates, insurance, PUC, road tax, and driver licenses. Mechanical components such as headlights, brake lights, parking lights, indicators, backlights, meters, steering, tires, clutch, accelerator, seats, horn, wipers, and front and rear reflectors were examined for compliance.

In addition, safety features mandated by the Supreme Court were checked, including GPS, CCTV cameras, speed governors, pressure horns, emergency windows, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, school identification markings, and contact information. Officers confirmed that all buses displayed “School Bus” signs prominently.

ASP Richa Mishra was present during the inspection to oversee proceedings and ensure adherence to safety norms. Authorities emphasized that buses unable to attend the camp would be inspected on the road during transit.

The Traffic Police and Transport Department appealed to school administrations to prioritize children’s safety and adhere strictly to regulations. Officials highlighted that regular compliance checks are critical to preventing accidents and ensuring student safety during transport.

The inspection is part of a broader initiative across Chhattisgarh to improve road safety standards for school transportation. By enforcing vehicle fitness, driver competency, and safety equipment compliance, authorities aim to reduce risks associated with student commutes.
