During the inauguration of the workshop, Arun Saw gave the example of Indore and said, "If Indore can be ahead in cleanliness, then the Municipal Corporations of Chhattisgarh can also move ahead. All that is needed is determination and dedication." Describing the 14 municipal corporations as "14 gems of Chhattisgarh", he expressed confidence that in the next five years these cities will make a mark in the country and abroad.

He also clarified that “the objective of Nagar Swaraj is not to limit the schemes to papers only, but to implement them on the ground.” He advised to prepare schemes by doing morning walks, interacting in the mohallas and connecting with the citizens.

Concern over water crisis and environmental protection
Arun Sao expressed deep concern over water crisis and environmental protection and said that “falling water level is a serious issue and public participation is essential in rain water harvesting schemes.” He talked about the revival of old wells and traditional water sources and told that water tanks and service centers will be established in every mohalla so that tap water facility reaches every house.

Arun Sao told the public representatives, “This responsibility is not just of the post, but of public trust. The public has tested and examined you, and then trusted you.” He urged the public representatives to set such an example through their work that the coming generations will remember. He said, “Becoming a mayor or a chairman is not a destination, it is just a stop. Your decisions will decide the future of the coming generations.”
