During a High Court hearing on the use of DJs, the government acknowledged the absence of strict legal provisions for action and emphasized the need to amend the existing Act for effective regulation.
A public interest litigation was heard in the High Court on Monday regarding the problems faced by people due to the noise of DJ and sound box. During this, the state government admitted that for strict action on this, amendment is needed in the state's Noise Control Act, for which the process will be done in the assembly. The court has given instructions to do the process and has fixed the next hearing on August 18.
During the hearing, the court was told that there are no such strict provisions in the Noise Act. Once or twice, a penalty of 500-1000 rupees is imposed and the person is let off. Neither the goods are confiscated, nor any strict rules have been made. The court has asked the government to submit a reply regarding the action in the matter.
Let us tell you that during the last hearing of the case, the court had expressed concern over the problems caused by laser and beam light along with DJ. The court said that DJ is dangerous to the heart and laser light is dangerous to people's eyes. The state government should make efforts to stop this. The government said that laser light is already banned in DJ and other vehicle mounted sound systems. Fines are being imposed on violations. Vehicles are being seized for repeated violations.
