The tender issued for laundry work in DKS Super Specialty Hospital was cancelled after strong opposition. Dhobi Samaj had strongly opposed the tender, alleging that conditions were put in the tender to benefit a particular firm by excluding local businessmen.
DKS Hospital administration had recently issued a tender for laundry work. In this, the work of washing all the bedsheets, pillow covers, doctors' uniforms, patient uniforms, staff uniforms, towels, blankets, OT linen sets, gowns, curtains, aprons, nursing uniforms and other clothes of the hospital was to be done through a firm. Local businessmen, Dhobi Samaj and Laundry Employees Association had raised objections to the conditions given in the tender. According to them, such conditions have been put to benefit a particular firm and to stop local businessmen, which are difficult to be fulfilled at the local level.
