Padmanabhpur police in Durg have arrested a man allegedly involved in the sale and supply of ganja, seizing two kilograms of the contraband along with cash and a scooter. The accused, identified as Bunty Saha, a resident of Kabir Nagar in Raipur, was taken into custody following a targeted operation based on intelligence inputs.
Police said the arrest was made on December 14 after receiving information that the accused would arrive near the Raipur Naka railway crossing to supply ganja to customers. Acting on the tip-off, a police team laid a trap and apprehended him at the spot.
During a search, officers recovered two kilograms of ganja from the boot of his scooter (registration number CG-04-NM-05482). The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth around ₹1 lakh. Police also recovered ₹55,200 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales, along with a keypad mobile phone and the scooter used for transportation.
The arrest follows an earlier action on December 10, when Padmanabhpur police detained two men, Suman Pandey and Mukesh Mishra, near the Durg overbridge at Raipur Naka while they were allegedly selling ganja. In that operation, police seized 2.362 kilograms of the substance, valued at approximately ₹1.18 lakh, along with ₹2,070 in cash.
During interrogation, the two arrested men told investigators that Bunty Saha had been supplying them ganja from Raipur’s Kabir Nagar area for nearly a year. Based on this disclosure, police intensified efforts to trace the alleged supplier, leading to his arrest.
The total value of items seized in the latest operation, including the contraband, cash, scooter and mobile phone, has been estimated at ₹2.35 lakh. The accused was produced before a local court and has been sent to the Central Jail in Durg on judicial remand.
Police officials said further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other individuals linked to the drug supply network.
