Electricity Shock: Power Tariffs Hiked for Domestic and Non-Domestic Consumers

Electricity rates have been increased by 10 to 20 paise per unit for domestic consumers and by 25 paise per unit for non-domestic users. The hike is expected to impact monthly electricity bills across categories.
New electricity rates have been fixed for the financial year 2025-26 in Chhattisgarh. The Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved an average increase of 1.89 percent in electricity rates from the current prevailing rate on the basis of the demand made by the power distribution company (CSPDCL). In this regard, the electricity rates of domestic consumers have been increased from 10 paise per unit to 20 paise per unit. At the same time, the electricity rates of non-domestic consumers have been increased by 25 paise per unit.
This is the first time after the BJP government came to power in the state, when the electricity rates have increased. Earlier, the electricity prices were increased twice during the Congress government. During the Congress government, there was an increase of 2.50 percent in 22-23 and 4.88 percent in 24-25. In this way, there was an increase of 7.38 percent during the tenure of the Congress government.
