EWS Certificate Scam Exposed

Officials accused of trying to suppress the matter amid rising questions on fraud.

The matter of irregularities in making EWS certificates has now gained momentum. This alleged fraud is being discussed in full swing in the tehsil office. On Monday, the statements of the family members of the students and those employees, especially the reader, who are accused of involvement, were recorded before Additional Tehsildar Garima Thakur. But till late evening, the officials and employees of the tehsil office kept holding meetings to cover up this fraud.

On Friday, the matter of admission in NEET UG with the help of fake EWS was raised in the media. After this, there was a stir in the administration. Due to constant pressure, the administration decided to record the statements of the applicants and employees to investigate the matter. By Monday afternoon, all the affected family members and suspicious employees were also present. Statements of all were recorded one by one. But no decision could be taken till evening. The complexity of the matter increased further when it was found out that the students whose certificates were issued are all residents of the area of Naib Tehsildar Prakriti Dhruv. But the application and the process were conducted through the reader of Additional Tehsildar Garima Thakur. This is the reason why the needle of suspicion is directly on the reader and the office machinery.

Just negligence or organized network

At the administrative level, the officials are busy handling this matter. The family alleges that instead of taking action against the real culprits, the officials are trying to suppress the matter. Now it remains to be seen in which direction the investigation moves forward. Is there really an organized network behind this scam or is it just the result of negligence, whatever this controversy has raised questions on the functioning of the Tehsil office.

What is our fault?

Bhavya Mishra's father Suraj Mishra says that my daughter had scored 490, on which she could have got admission in any government college. So that she could get admission in a good private college, he went to Naib Tehsildar Prakriti Dhruv to get EWS made on the basis of eligibility. He assured that there will be no problem. The process was completed through Garima Thakur's reader and they also appeared before the Naib Tehsildar for verification on 16, 21 and 25 August. Even after this, how did the certificate become fake, only the officer should explain.

Applicants say we followed the legal process

The applicants say that they followed the entire legal process. After verification of the documents, the archived case was registered online and the serial number of the certificate was also allotted. Their argument is that when the system itself generated the number and the documents were verified, then there was no need for them to know or ask which officer signed or stamped the certificate. Now the question arises that if the entire online system was correct, then where did the mistake happen? Did any officer or employee deliberately misuse the signature and seal, or is there any technical flaw in the entire system? A clear answer has not yet come from the administration on this.

Outsourcing leads to breach of confidentiality
The services of a dozen outsourcing employees are being taken for confidential work in the tehsil office, which increases the possibility of irregularities. This is the reason why there is a situation of doubt in the EWS certificate case that came to light recently. Reader Prahlad Netam said that apart from him, Akhil Trivedi and Sandeep Lonia also work in the Tehsildar's office. The question is being raised that when sensitive and confidential work is done by outsourcing employees, then such incidents are bound to happen. This is also raising serious questions on administrative transparency.

The round of allegations and counter-allegations continued
Instead of fixing responsibility in the EWS certificate case, now a round of allegations and counter-allegations has started. The interesting thing is that the reader is accusing the Tehsildar, the Tehsildar is holding the reader responsible and the SDM is raising questions on the Tehsildar. At the same time, the outsourcing employees are also blaming the officers, calling themselves innocent.
