Family Dispute in Bilaspur Turns Deadly: Wife Killed with Tawa Over Argument About Baby’s Chhathi Ceremony

A shocking incident has come to light from Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, where a minor family dispute claimed the life of a woman. In the Sakri police station area of Bahtarai, a husband brutally killed his wife by hitting her with a tawa (griddle). The incident occurred at around 8:30 AM on Sunday, when the couple got into an argument over the Chhathi ceremony of their two-month-old baby.

Repeated Blows to Head and Face With Tawa
The argument between accused Gourishankar Sahu (27) and his wife Ratna Sahu (25) escalated to such an extent that in anger, Gourishankar hit his wife multiple times on the head and face with the bread-making tawa. Ratna suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot. No other family members were present at home during the incident as everyone had gone to work in the fields.

Accused Called Police Himself After the Murder
After killing his wife, Gourishankar himself called police on 112 and informed them about the murder, then reached the police station. The police arrived immediately, took the body into custody, and after conducting the spot inspection, sent it for postmortem. The tawa used in the murder was also seized by the police.
